The Duo Humoresque arose from a meeting at the National Academy of Paris, three years ago. Since its creation the Duo is in a permanent concern of curiosity, opening and research. This requirement is operated in the choice of its programs, trying to propose a unity and an originality throughout its concerts so that the public perceives the general "humor" of the works which it interprets. Indeed, "Humoresque", detail written by Schumann, and romantic par excellence, reflects a particular state of mind. Humoresque, said Schumann, is a with difficulty translatable word of the German to the French because he contains at the same time the notion of humor as well as the notion of mood. It is in this variety of "humors" that Clara Zaoui and Xénia Maliarevitch wanted to be situated, thanks to a quickly established complicity and common envy. In 2006, the Duo gained the special Price of the General Company in the International Forum of Normandy. Since December 2007, it is also a prize-winner of the Popular Banque Foundation.
It takes away, in 2008, the Second Price in the International Competition of Val Tidone in Italy.
The Duo Humoresque perfects at present in the class of the Quartet Ysaÿe, benefits from advices of Christian Ivaldi, Eric Le Sage and Paul Meyer. It also has the chance to participate in the master-classes of chamber music within the framework of the training program Proquartet. The Duo is invited for the second year to the Kulturnacht de Tübingen in Germany. It also occurs in the Studio " Le Regard du Cygne ", to the National Archives of Paris, in " musical Saturdays " of Chartres, in festival " Piano in Saintonge ", at the Theater of Fontainebleau, at the "Invalides" beside Lise Berthaud and beside the Quartet Modigliani, or still at the European Days of the Heritage in the City hall of Paris. It is also invited at the festivals of Brescia and the "Lac de Garde" in Italy. It recently shared a concert with Francois Salque and Eric Le Sage, to interpret the complete of the sonatas of Beethoven. It soon participates in the emission " Dans la cour des grands " on France Music as well as in the emission " Generation... young interpreters ".
For the elaboration of its programs, the Duo always wishes to draw from varied and original directories by giving them a coherence and a unity to share with the public a general atmosphere, appropriate for every concert. The Duo integrates the program "Délic" of CulturesFrance in 2009.
